TAUBLIEB FILMS’ feature documentary, “HAWAIIAN: The Legend of Eddie Aikau,” about the fearless big wave surfer and first-ever North Shore lifeguard whose heroic selflessness is an allegory for the reclaiming of Hawaiian culture, will have its world premiere at the renowned Tribeca Film Festival in NYC, screening on Friday and Saturday, April 26th and 27th as an official ESPN “30 for 30” film. “HAWAIIAN” was produced by Paul Taublieb, Stacy Peralta, Agi Orsi and Dan Silver of ESPN Films, directed by Sam George, and narrated by Josh Brolin, who also served as Executive Producer, along with Bob McKnight and Susan Cooper, who is a partner in TAUBLIEB Films. Co-producers Stacy Griffith and Cecy Rangel. “HAWAIIAN” will screen at other select festivals before its world television premiere on ESPN this fall. Also, TAUBLIEB films has also acquired the rights to the book “Eddie Would Go” and in conjunction with having the rights to the Aikau family, is developing Eddie’s story into a dramatic feature film.

HELL FIRE Upcoming under the TAUBLIEB Films banner is the feature documentary “HELL FIRE – The True Story of Freestyle Moto-X,” which Taublieb is co-directing and co-producing with Jon Freeman of Fleshwound Films/Crusty Demons of Dirt. With 47interviews completed, the project is now in post-production and promises to present an unflinching, heartfelt, heart-stopping human perspective of the most intense and dangerous sport on the planet. NEW PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT: Based on an original idea by Paul Taublieb, “Run for the Border,” is an action thriller set in the world of surfing, Baja and the Mexican Drug Cartels, is currently in development, with Deed Films in association with TAUBLIEB Films, with Taublieb also slated to produce and direct. And TAUBLIEB Films recently optioned an untold Civil War-era true story from Mitch Covington and is developing it as a network mini-series, with Susan Cooper executive producing.
